統計学の基本：データの種類
nominal: nominal scales are used for labeling variables, without any quantitative value. “Nominal” scales could simply be called “labels.” also called the categorical variable scale,
「名義尺度」と呼ばれる。単に分類するために整理番号として数値を割り当てたもの。名義尺度の数値が同じならば同じ分類に属し，数値が異なれば異なる分類に属する。
例えば、欠陥の種類、レビューのやり方、血液型など。

ordinal: ordinal scale is defined as a variable measurement scale used to simply depict the order of variables and not the difference between each of the variables.
「順序尺度」と呼ばれる。順序には意味があるがその間隔には意味がない数値を割り当てたもの。大小比較は可能であるが，間隔や比率には意味がない。
例えば、顧客満足度(５：とても満足、４：満足、３：やや満足...)、欠陥の重大度(軽微、重要、致命)。

interval: Interval scale is defined as a numerical scale where the order of the variables is known as well as the difference between these variables.
「間隔尺度」と呼ばれる。目盛が等間隔になっている（等間隔であると仮定されている）もの。和差には意味があるが比率には意味がない。
例えば、欠陥密度、摂氏の温度。

ratio: ratio scale is defined as a variable measurement scale that not only produces the order of variables but also makes the difference between variables known along with information on the value of true zero.
「比例尺度」と呼ばれる。原点(0)の決め方が定まっていて，間隔にも比率にも意味があるもの。和差積商の計算が自由にできる。
例えば、身長，体重，金額，絶対温度。
※As the “0” in the ratio scale means the complete absence of anything, there are no negative numbers on ratio scale.
※As the name suggests, we can create meaningful ratios between numbers on a ratio scale (interval scale cannot).
